3.

Why we recommend Audio CD over MP3 files?
Because Audio CD gives you the very best quality from your analog tape
than any other compressed digital audio formats.

You can keep the audio CD as the original sound source, and if you need to,
you can change to whatever an audio file format you want (such as MP3, AAC or WAV) by yourself.

4.

The file format on the audio CD is .cda, which is a shortcut of CD Audio.
Audio CD(.CDA) is an uncompressed digital audio file.
Compared to other compressed digital file such as MP3,
audio CD is the very best digital audio quality possible converted from analog tape.

5.

If you want to Edit the file, like cut tracks, you can do so with many free digital audio editor.
Audacity is one of the very popular ones.

How can I play the audio CD you created?

You can play audio CD and enjoy music in many ways:
1. PC or Mac - you can just insert the CD.
2. DVD player - most DVD player plays audio CDs too,.
3. Boom Box, CD Walkman, CD player.

How to enjoy on iPad, iPod or iPhone - please see next.

How can I play the audio CD on iPad, iPhone or iPod?

The audio CD that we created from you cassette tape can be handled as a regular music CD.
When the music CD is inserted, iTunes will automatically open and start playing.

You can import the songs to iTunes library and synchronize it with your iPad, iPod and iPhone.

Can you put a cassette tape in to my iPod, iPad or iPhone?

Unfortunately we can't, because it has to be done through your iTunes on your computer.
Apple treats iPod(or iPad, iPhone) as a player, not an archive device.

However, once your cassette tape is converted to an audio CD, transferring it to iPod is very easy thing to do.
Here is how to do it:
Put an audio CD into your computer (PC or Mac) > open iTunes > import disc > synchronize iTunes with your iPod, iPad or iPhone.

To learn more about transferring an audio CD through iTunes, please go to Apple's tutorial site.

How long does it take to have my cassette tape converted to CD?

We are pretty quick in general.
Because all cassette transfer is processed in-house at our New York lab.
A simple tape to a CD transfer will be ready in a day or two..

Same day or a couple of hours RUSH service might be available.
Please contact us with your particular needs.

Multiple tapes take longer.

Is there any charge for a Blank tape?

No.
There is no charge for a blank tape.

What format of music file am I getting on the CD?

.cda file, which is a music audio CD format.
Music CD(.cda) is huge in file size but comes with much better sound quality, compared to compressed MP3 or AAC.

You can easily turn it into MP3 or AAC file by a drag and drop into iTunes.

More details, please read here.

Why do you recommend Audio CD, not MP3 files?

Because Audio CD is much better quality than MP3 files.
Please read here for the reason.

Can you transfer a longer than 1 hour cassette tape to a single audio CD?

No we can not.
Theoretically a regular audio CD cannot record longer than 70 minutes, because
Audio CD format (.CDA) is an uncompressed, 44.1k, 16 bit stereo audio format,
there is no room for compression.

There is a trick called "Over-buring" which enables to burn(= make) a longer than regular CD,
but the CD created with this trick is not a standard CD anymore.
It might or might not work on your system.

There are some longer than 80 minutes commercial music CDs in the market.
They are using a different type of CD(larger capacity CD) which is not available for burning.

How long cassette tape can be transferred to a single audio CD?

60 minutes (practically up to 70 minutes).
A longer than 60 minutes tape will be converted to two audio CDs (side A and side B).
The price is still $15.95 for a set of 2 CDs, same as a 60 minutes tape.

Will my original cassette tape be returned to me?

Yes.

I am concerned about my tape's privacy and confidentiality.

We respect your privacy and confidentiality seriously.
Being in photo business since 1971, no other companies are better than us to keep customers' information tight.
-1. Most jobs are processed in-house by experienced professional technicians.
-2. The technician will only watch your tape what is necessary for quality control.
-3. Once a work is done, all temporary files will be deleted from our system.

To put it in writing, we have our Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreement Form ready for you.
You can download the form, type in your (company) name and address, and print two copies.
Sign and date both, then bring the forms with your work.
We will sign them both and return one copy for you.

Do you convert copy protected cassette to CD?

Absolutely not.

Can you transfer multiple cassette tapes on to a single CD?

No, we don't offer any editing services.

Will the audio CD you create play on my CD player (and a Boom box)?

Yes.
It's a regular music CD anyway.

Will the CD you create play on my PC or Mac?

Yes, it will work on your computer if your PC/Mac has a CD/DV drive.
It will work with Windows Media Player and iTunes.

Can you transfer a portion of my tape to CD?

No. We do not offer any editing services.
We will transfer whatever on the tape to a CD as a whole.

We don't split tracks either.

Is there any Regional code protection on the CD?

No.
No such regional code restrictions nor PAL/NTSC TV system differences on audio CDs.

How can I edit the audio CD?

Disclaimer
We have nothing to do with the following links, and are not responsible any results.
The links below is for your reference only.

iTunes shows weird CD title when I insert the audio CD in.

Depends on your iTunes preference setting, you might see a strange music CD title pops up when you insert an audio CD.

You might see a music album title that has nothing to do with your original audio CD.
For instance, iTunes will give a Heavy Metal Music title to my grandparent's interview CD, and
next you insert the same audio CD, iTunes will give you a totally different music title.

We all know this is a annoying function for a private made CD.
There is nothing we can do to prevent it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the audio CD we made, either.

This happens only when your iTunes' s "Automatically retrieve music name from internet" option is checked.

To solve this problem -
You simply disable this function by going Edit > Preference > General > un-check this option.

Transcription service - Can you make "print" from cassette tape?

Unfortunately we are not offering transcription services.
Please Google search with "Transcription service, your area"
